BoT Governor, Canadian High Commissioner discuss trade and investment cooperation

The Governor of the Bank of Tanzania (BoT), Mr. Emmanuel Tutuba, on May 13, 2025, held a meeting with the Canadian High Commissioner to Tanzania,  Emily Burns, at the Bank’s headquarters in Dar es Salaam to discuss ways of enhancing trade and investment ties between the two countries.

During the talks, the two leaders exchanged views on opportunities for expanding economic cooperation. Governor Tutuba noted that Tanzania continues to make significant progress in improving its investment climate to attract both domestic and foreign investors.

“The Tanzanian Government has been working diligently to create a conducive environment for investment, and these efforts are paying off,” said Mr. Tutuba. 

“We are witnessing increased investor confidence and strong economic performance across key sectors.”he added

He emphasized the role of macroeconomic stability, sound monetary policy, and infrastructure development in driving growth and boosting investor interest.

In response, High Commissioner Burns applauded the Bank of Tanzania for its role in supporting economic reforms and maintaining financial stability.

“Canada commends the efforts of the Bank of Tanzania in strengthening the country’s economic framework,” said Ms. Burns.

 “We look forward to deepening our cooperation in areas that support inclusive economic growth and sustainable development.”he added

She reaffirmed Canada’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, particularly in areas that promote trade, financial sector development, and social progress.

“Our countries share a longstanding relationship, and we are eager to continue working together to unlock new opportunities that benefit both Tanzanians and Canadians,” she added.

The meeting highlighted the shared interest of both parties in fostering an enabling environment for private sector participation, innovation, and broader economic partnerships.
