Abood delivers on promises, seeks re-election bid

 By Lilian Kasenene, Morogoro

Member of Parliament for Morogoro Urban, Abdulaziz Abood, has reaffirmed his commitment to delivering on the promises he made to his constituents by ensuring that essential services reach people where they live.

As part of this commitment, Abood has been touring the constituency to inspect development projects, listen to community concerns, and offer solutions to various challenges. These visits also serve as a way to track the implementation of pledges he made at different times during his tenure.

So far, the MP has visited 15 out of the 29 wards in Morogoro Municipality. In each ward, he has delivered support based on specific local needs. These include Bigwa, Kilakala, Mwembesongo, Mafisa, and Mindu.

In Bigwa Ward, specifically in the Korogoso and Mungi neighborhoods, Abood fulfilled a promise to help improve infrastructure by donating 20 bags of cement, 6 hoes, 6 shovels, and 4 hand hoes. The materials will be used to construct a footbridge connecting the two communities, improving access to public services.

In Kilakala Ward, Nugutu neighborhood, he settled compensation amounting to TZS 1,106,000 for land designated for a new cemetery, helping residents avoid the long distances previously required to access burial sites.

To address flooding in the Riverside neighborhood of Mwembesongo Ward during the rainy season, Abood donated six culverts. These will be used to construct proper drainage channels, including the excavation of water trenches to prevent water stagnation and improve sanitation.

While visiting Mafisa Ward, Abood donated 500 bricks for the construction of a new CCM branch office in Kihonda Mbuyuni. He also responded to drainage challenges in Nyerere neighborhood by supplying 11 six-inch Class B wastewater pipes, allowing sewage to flow properly and improving residents’ living conditions.

Still in Mafisa, the MP inspected the ongoing construction of the White House neighborhood chairperson’s office. He pledged to provide 35 iron roofing sheets, 50 planks of 2x4 timber, and 45 planks of 3x3 timber to help complete the building so it can begin serving the community.

In Mindu Ward, Abood donated 75 chairs to the CCM Women’s Wing (UWT), six rolls of iron bars to Mikoroshini neighborhood, and 10 bags of cement each to Mikoroshini and Madaganya neighborhoods for the rehabilitation of culverts.

Demonstrating support for youth sports development, Abood provided three sets of football kits and three balls to youth teams in Mungi and Korogoso (Bigwa Ward) as well as Kasanga FC (Mindu Ward).

During the tour, Abood publicly announced his intention to seek another term as Member of Parliament for Morogoro Urban. He told CCM members and residents that once Parliament is officially dissolved, he will immediately collect nomination forms to contest again.

"I’m not here to buy leadership—I serve with dignity. Let us not trade our humanity for political gain. I became an MP to serve, not for personal interests. Don’t listen to those who speak ill of me,” Abood stated.
