Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania, Kassim Majaliwa, has reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to ensuring that all regional and district headquarters across the country are connected with tarmac roads. This initiative is aimed at improving transport services and stimulating economic growth.
Speaking today, May 18, 2025, to residents of Hungumalwa in Kwimba District, Mwanza Region, the Prime Minister emphasized that the Government will continue to oversee the implementation of road infrastructure projects in the region.
He noted that construction of the Hungumalwa–Ngudu–Magu road is ongoing in phases, with the ultimate goal of upgrading it to tarmac standard.
"I want to assure the people of Kwimba that the Government is determined to construct roads that link regional and district headquarters to strengthen our transport network. We will continue to closely monitor the implementation of this strategic directive, which is part of the broader vision of President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan," said Majaliwa.
Meanwhile, the Minister for Works, Hon. Abdallah Ulega, outlined the Ministry’s plans under the 2025/26 financial year budget, which include the construction of the Mobuki–Ngudu road (26 km) to tarmac level. Of this, 10 kilometers are already under active development.
He further reported that the Government has commenced construction of a 3-kilometer stretch of the Mobuki–Ngudu road, which is a key step in linking Kwimba District with the Mwanza regional headquarters.
Additionally, Ulega highlighted other ongoing road projects in the district, including the construction of the Ngudu–Jojiro road (10 km), which is currently in progress.
