The Director of Health, Nutrition, and Social Welfare at the President’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government (PO-RALG), Dr. Rashid Mfaume, has emphasized that strong collaboration between the Government and faith-based institutions continues to play a pivotal role in enhancing access to quality healthcare services for Tanzanians.
Dr. Mfaume made the remarks during his recent inspection tour of Cardinal Rugambwa Hospital in Dar es Salaam, a facility owned and operated by the Catholic Archdiocese of Dar es Salaam.
The visit is part of his broader regional mission aimed at assessing the delivery of health, nutrition, and social welfare services across the country.
“We have witnessed the use of advanced medical equipment and systems here. The Government has fostered a favorable environment for partnership with all faith-based organizations, including promoting investment in the health sector,” said Dr. Mfaume.
He further called on Council Health Management Teams (CHMTs) in all local government authorities to maintain close working relationships with faith-based health facilities, as these institutions often provide critical services on behalf of the Government.
On her part, the hospital’s Medical Officer In Charge, Sr. Dr. Sarah Deogratius, welcomed the visit, saying it had boosted staff morale and reaffirmed their commitment to delivering high-quality care to the public.
