Same, Kilimanjaro – Hundreds of residents in Same District have turned out in large numbers at the Same District Hospital to receive specialized medical services provided by a team of expert doctors sent by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan, as part of a national campaign to bring healthcare services closer to the people.
The initiative, which began earlier this week, includes specialized treatment in various fields such as gynecology, pediatrics, surgery, ophthalmology, and internal medicine.
The doctors arrived early at the hospital and began attending to patients from different areas of the district and neighboring regions.
Speaking to Fullshangwe Media, the Chief Medical Officer of Same District Hospital, Dr. Alexander Alex, said the arrival of the specialist doctors is part of the government’s effort to ensure all Tanzanians have access to quality healthcare, regardless of distance or financial limitations.
“We are grateful to the government for sending these doctors. Many residents here used to face difficulties traveling to Moshi or Dar es Salaam to access these services. Now, these treatments are available nearby, and at minimal or no cost,” said Dr. Alex.
Some residents expressed their appreciation for the services, saying they were encouraged to see the government taking practical steps to care for its people.
“I received free eye care. The doctors welcomed us warmly,” said Ms. Zainabu Mussa, a resident of Gonja.
The services will continue for several more days, with the hospital working closely with community leaders to ensure that everyone in need of treatment receives appropriate care
