TAFF elects new leadership

The Tanzania Amputee Football Federation (TAFF) has ushered in a new leadership team following successful general elections held on May 18, 2025, at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium Hall in Dar es Salaam.

Julius Koyi was elected President after securing all 18 votes, defeating his opponent Sharifu Makame, who failed to garner any support.

Abdul Mashine was elected First Vice President with 17 votes in favor and one against. Rahel Pallangyo, a sports journalist from HabariLEO, was elected Second Vice President with 16 votes, beating her opponent Faraja Mbagale, who received just two votes.

Fredrick Sintau was unanimously elected Secretary General, running unopposed.

In the race for Assistant Secretary, Anectus Blasio won with 14 votes, defeating Daudi Mnongya who received 4. Joseph Lugayila was elected Treasurer with a unanimous 18 votes.

For the position of Technical Director, Shaban Msangi secured all 18 votes, while his opponent Salehe Bundala received none.

The elected members of the Executive Committee are Elisha Kulinganila (17 votes), Elice Masanilo (16), and Athumani Athumani, Charles Mwamlima, and Juma Kidevu, each with 15 votes. Maulid Mwikalo rounded out the list with 14 votes.

Announcing the results, the Chairperson of the Election Committee, Charles Maguzu who is also a Sports Officer at the National Sports Council (BMT) urged the newly elected leaders to prioritize public interest and focus on strengthening the federation.

TAFF had been without formal leadership since 2023 after its executive committee was suspended by BMT. A temporary committee was appointed to oversee its operations.

The outgoing leadership included Peter Sarungi (President) and Moses Mabula (Secretary General). The interim committee was led by Vincent Kaduma (President), with Athuman Lubandame (Vice President), Iddi Lulida (Secretary General), Robert Manyerere (Deputy Secretary General), and Leonard Liunda (Treasurer).
