Yanga advances to the CRDB Federation Cup final

By Flora Mkoloma

Young Africans SC (Yanga) has become the first team to book a place in the final of the 2025 CRDB Federation Cup after a solid 2-0 victory over JKT Tanzania.

The semi-final clash was played on May 18, 2025, at the Mkwakwani Stadium in Tanga. The game kicked off with both teams showing strong attacking intent while remaining disciplined in defense. The opening 40 minutes were tightly contested, with neither side able to break the deadlock.

However, in the 41st minute, Yanga found the breakthrough courtesy of a well-taken goal by striker Prince Dube, giving them a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.

In the second half, both sides returned to the pitch with determination. JKT Tanzania pushed for an equalizer, but Yanga maintained composure and control throughout the remainder of the match.

The victory was sealed in the 88th minute when Mudathir Yahya scored Yanga’s second goal, putting the result beyond doubt and confirming their place in the final.

With the 2-0 win, Yanga now awaits the winner of the second semi-final between Simba SC and Singida Black Stars. That match is scheduled to take place on May 31, 2025, at the Tanzanite Stadium in Kwaraa, Manyara Region.

Yanga will be aiming to lift the prestigious domestic cup and add another title to their successful season.
