Sports stakeholders in Tanzania have been invited to participate in the upcoming leadership elections for the Tanzania Federation of Football for People with Disabilities (TAFF), scheduled for May 18 in Dar es Salaam.
The election was initially set for May 4 but was postponed to provide more opportunities for individuals to collect nomination forms, ensuring a competitive race.
Najaha Bakari, Head of Public Relations and Communications at the National Sports Council of Tanzania (BMT), confirmed that candidate registration will take place on May 17.
"We postponed the election to give more people a chance to run for leadership positions," Najaha explained. "A more competitive election process helps us elect the best leaders who will drive the federation forward."
The positions available for election include Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary General, Assistant Secretary General, Technical Director, Public Relations Officer, and Board Members.
These positions are pivotal in shaping the future of the federation, and Najaha highlighted their importance in ensuring a strong leadership team. "We need leaders who can bring positive change and success to the federation," she emphasized.
"The success of disabled football in Tanzania depends on electing the right people to guide it."
While candidates have already collected their nomination forms, the deadline for submitting them has now passed.
Stakeholders are eager for a competitive, transparent process that will lead to the selection of capable leaders who can meet the needs of disabled football players across the country.
Najaha urges both candidates and voters to approach the election with seriousness and responsibility. "It’s vital that we elect leaders who are committed to the growth and development of the federation," she said. "This election is a chance to shape the future of disabled football in Tanzania."
As the election day approaches, all eyes are on the TAFF leadership race, with hopes high for a successful and transformative chapter for the federation.
