Dodoma, Tanzania – The Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO) has announced the full restoration of its electricity purchase system, popularly known as LUKU, following a temporary disruption that affected customers nationwide earlier today.
The outage, which began in the afternoon, disrupted electricity token purchases through various platforms, including mobile money services, banks, and authorized agents.
As a result, many customers were unable to recharge their prepaid meters, leading to widespread concern and inconvenience.
In an official public notice, TANESCO confirmed that the issue has been resolved and that all LUKU services are now fully operational.
Customers can once again buy electricity tokens using all available channels, including M-Pesa, Tigo Pesa, Airtel Money, HaloPesa, and banking services.
“We are pleased to inform our customers that the challenge affecting LUKU electricity purchases has been successfully resolved. All services are now functioning normally,” the company stated.
TANESCO extended its gratitude to customers for their patience and understanding during the downtime. The company also commended the efforts of its technical teams, who worked swiftly to identify and fix the issue.
“We sincerely thank our customers for their cooperation and patience during this unexpected interruption. Our team worked tirelessly to restore the system as quickly as possible,” the statement added.
