Tanzania has recorded a robust annual economic growth rate of 5.5%, largely fueled by the dedication, hard work, and commitment of workers across various sectors.
This positive trend has empowered the Government to make key policy decisions aimed at enhancing the welfare of public servants, including a notable 35.1% increase in the minimum wage.
President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Her Excellency Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, highlighted these achievements during the national commemoration of International Workers’ Day held on May 1st at Bombadia Grounds in Singida Region, where she served as the Guest of Honour.
The Bank of Tanzania was well represented at the celebrations, with a delegation led by Governor Emmanuel Tutuba.
Staff members joined colleagues from a wide range of institutions and organizations in recognizing and honoring the invaluable contributions of workers to the nation’s development.
A highlight of the event was the recognition of Mr. Melkiory E. Maria from the Bank’s Currency Directorate, who was awarded a certificate and a cash prize of TZS 10 million after being named the Bank of Tanzania’s Best Employee of the Year.
