The Chief Executive Officer of the Rural and Urban Roads Agency (TARURA), Engineer Victor Seff, has announced that regional managers across the country are to begin announcing tenders for the 2025/2026 fiscal year.
Speaking during his visit to the TARURA Regional Manager’s office in Singida and in discussions with district managers in the region, Engineer Seff emphasized the importance of prioritizing key projects.
“We are preparing to launch tenders for the 2025/2026 fiscal year across the country. By next week, you will receive detailed instructions on the procurement process,” said Engineer Seff. “It is crucial that we prioritize roads that are vital for the community and those with significant accessibility challenges.”
The CEO further emphasized the need for timely road maintenance and effective project management. “We expect all road maintenance activities to be carried out on time, and for projects in all regions to begin early. This will ensure that we meet the needs of the public efficiently,” he added.
Engineer Seff also urged district managers to prepare road improvement plans that align with local community priorities.
“Your plans should reflect the needs of the people. You must take into account the roads that are most important to the residents of each area,” he advised.
Additionally, he called for the creation of road maintenance budgets for each district, including plans for payment through manual labor.
“Each district council must prepare its maintenance budget, and where possible, we should engage the local workforce to carry out the repairs,” Seff explained.
Engineer Seff is currently in Singida, where, on May 1, 2025, he participated in the International Workers’ Day celebrations.
During the event, he was honored by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, who awarded him a cash prize for being TARURA’s outstanding employee for the 2024/2025 fiscal year.
“I am humbled to receive this recognition. It is a reflection of the hard work and dedication of the entire TARURA team. Together, we are making a difference in improving road infrastructure for the benefit of all Tanzanians,” said Engineer Seff in his acceptance speech.
