Tanzania delivered a remarkable performance at the Women’s Futsal Tournament held in Morocco, finishing as runners-up after a hard-fought 3-2 loss to the host nation in the final match.

This was a historic achievement for the team, as it marked Tanzania’s first-ever appearance in the tournament.

Despite narrowly missing out on the title, the Tanzanian team showed tremendous determination and

skill throughout the competition. Their strong showing has earned them a spot in the upcoming Women’s Futsal World Cup, which is scheduled to take place later this year in Milan, Philippines.

The qualification is a major milestone for women’s futsal in Tanzania and a sign of the sport’s growing potential in the country.

Head Coach Curtis Reid expressed pride in his team’s efforts, praising the players for their dedication, teamwork, and performance under pressure.

“Morocco has invested heavily in futsal, both in terms of infrastructure and experience,” Reid said. “For our team, this was a debut appearance, and reaching the final is an incredible accomplishment. We’ve proven that we belong on the international stage.”

Looking ahead, Reid emphasized the importance of continued development. He revealed that the team will return to training with renewed focus and is planning a friendly rematch with Morocco as part of their World Cup preparations.

“This is just the beginning. We’re going to invest more in training and preparation so we can perform even better on the global stage,” he added.

In addition to the team’s success, individual players were also recognized. Tanzanian goalkeeper Najiati Idrisa was named Best Goalkeeper of the tournament for her outstanding performances.

The Best Player award went to Jasmin Demraoui of Morocco, while the Top Scorer title was claimed by Doha El Madani. Namibia was honored with the Fair Play Team award.

Tanzania’s performance in Morocco has inspired optimism and pride, marking a promising new chapter for women’s futsal in the country. The experience gained in this tournament is expected to fuel further growth and success as the team prepares for the world stage.
