By Respondent Reporter– May 2025

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance and Paymaster General, Dr. Natu El-maamry Mwamba, met with the Irish Ambassador to Tanzania, H.E. Nicola Brennan, to discuss ongoing and future development cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting took place at the Ministry’s Sub-office in Dar es Salaam and focused on key areas of support provided by the Irish government.

Ireland is a long-standing development partner and continues to fund important social programs in Tanzania.

Dr. Mwamba thanked the Government of Ireland for its support, especially in financing the Tanzania Social Action Fund (TASAF), which assists poor households, and the Health Basket Fund, which supports the health sector.

Ambassador Brennan reaffirmed Ireland’s commitment to working with Tanzania to achieve mutual development goals.

She noted the strong relationship between the two countries and said Ireland is ready to continue supporting Tanzania’s development priorities.

The two sides also discussed outcomes from the recent High-Level Dialogue between the Government and Development Partners, held in Dodoma on February 28, 2025.

They agreed on the importance of implementing resolutions from that meeting and enhancing coordination in future projects.

Ambassador Brennan was joined by Deputy Ambassador Ms. Mags Gaynor and Mr. Francis Sampa, the Program Manager for Inclusive Economic Development at the Embassy.

On the Tanzanian side, Mr. Norbert Mwitta, an economist from the Ministry's External Finance Department, was also present.

This meeting reflects Tanzania’s continued efforts to strengthen ties with international partners and align donor support with national development strategies.
