The Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Philip Mpango, has called on Tanzanians residing in Brazil to respect the country's laws and engage exclusively in lawful economic activities.
Speaking during his visit to the Tanzanian Embassy in Brasília, the Vice President held discussions with embassy staff and was briefed on concerns regarding some Tanzanians currently serving prison sentences in various Brazilian correctional facilities.
In response, he urged Tanzania’s Ambassador to Brazil,Dr. John Simbachawene, to convene meetings with members of the Tanzanian diaspora to encourage them to focus on positive and productive opportunities that enhance Tanzania’s global image.
Dr. Mpango emphasized the need to strengthen economic diplomacy between Tanzania and Brazil, highlighting Brazil’s status as a major global economy with a large population and substantial market potential for Tanzanian products.
He noted that Brazil has made significant strides in key sectors such as agriculture, research, manufacturing, the blue economy, and sports—all of which present valuable opportunities for collaboration with Tanzania.
He further urged Tanzanians in Brazil to actively promote the wide range of investment opportunities available in Tanzania and work to attract Brazilian investors.
Additionally, he encouraged them to explore educational and training opportunities that would allow Tanzanians to benefit from Brazil’s advanced technologies and academic institutions.
Vice President Mpango is in Brazil representing the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, at the second Brazil–Africa Conference on Food Security, the Fight Against Hunger, and Rural Development, taking place in Brasília.
