TANESCO announces LUKU system upgrade for central and northern regions

The Tanzania Electric Supply Company Limited (TANESCO) has announced to upgrade the LUKU prepaid meter system from August 26, 2024, in Morogoro, Dodoma, Singida, Manyara, Kilimanjaro, Tanga and Arusha regions.

A public announced issued on Saturday (August 17) says the upgrade will improve the efficiency and security of electricity meters, aims to make the electricity system more reliable for customers.

“After the upgrade, customers will get new codes when they buy electricity. The codes will be in three parts. They need to enter these codes into their meters following simple steps provided,” the statement reads.

TANESCO has assured that the upgrade will be free of charge and only needs to be done once. After the upgrade, customers can continue to buy electricity as usual.

TANESCO expects to finish the upgrade by November 24, 2024. The company urges customers to complete the upgrade to enjoy better services.

This upgrade is part of TANESCO’s plan to improve Tanzania’s electricity services.
