The
Vodacom Twende Butiama 2024 expedition concluded successfully on October 13,
2024, in Butiama, the home village of the late founding father of the nation,
Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere, located in the Mara Region.
This
year's event brought together over 100 cyclists from Tanzania and neighboring
countries, spanning 12 regions from September 29.
Key
accomplishments of the expedition included providing free health services to
thousands of citizens at medical camps set up along the route. More than 1,000
desks were donated to various schools, including those catering to students
with special needs, and 50,000 tree seedlings were planted in areas along the route
to promote environmental conservation.
Since
its inception in 2018, the Vodacom Twende Butiama expedition has served as a
vital platform for community support through initiatives focused on education,
health, and environmental sustainability.
