By Charles Mkoka

The Tanzanian government is relying on scientific research to guide decisions aimed at strengthening wildlife conservation and promoting sustainable tourism, according to the Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism Ambassador Dr. Pindi Chana (MP).

Speaking today in Arusha during a meeting with the Tanzania Wildlife Research Institute (TawirI) management, Minister Chana highlighted the critical role of scientific data in shaping conservation efforts for the benefit of future generations.

“We are committed to ensuring that our wildlife resources are preserved for current and future generations. Scientific data serves as our compass in these conservation efforts,” emphasized Dr. Chana.

Tawiri Director General, Dr. Eblate Mjingo, echoed the minister's sentiments, noting that research data enhances conservation and informs best practices in tourism, driving growth in the sector.

Deputy Secretary General for Tourism Nkoba Mabula, Tourism Department Director Dr. Thereza Mugobi, and senior officials from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism and Tawiri also attended the meeting.
