Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, who is also the Member of Parliament for Bukombe Constituency, Dr. Doto Biteko, has called on Tanzanians to embrace love, unity, and tolerance as essential tools for achieving national development and prosperity.
He made these remarks while celebrating the New Year 2025 with thousands of residents in his home village of Bulangwa, located in Bukombe District, Geita Region.
Dr. Biteko highlighted the significant milestones achieved under the leadership of President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, emphasizing the need to recognize and sustain these achievements for the country’s continued progress. "President Samia's vision has facilitated progress in various sectors, including road infrastructure, schools, health centers, and water projects. These achievements have been acknowledged both nationally and internationally," he said.
He further noted that international organizations, such as the World Bank and the Southern African Development Community (SADC), have commended the development strides made by Tanzania. Dr. Biteko urged the residents of Bukombe and all Tanzanians to make 2025 a year of strengthening love, tolerance, and mutual support, ensuring that everyone contributes to the happiness and well-being of others.
Geita Regional Commissioner,Martine Shigella, expressed gratitude to the government for implementing various development projects in the region.
He also commended Dr. Biteko for his dedication to remaining connected with the people of Bukombe and Geita Region. "Despite your national responsibilities, Deputy Prime Minister, you have stayed close to us, driving development in our region and constituency," Shigella said.
Kagera Regional Commissioner, Hon. Fatma Mwassa, applauded Dr. Biteko for celebrating with citizens, emphasizing that such engagements foster stronger connections between leaders and the people.
Meanwhile, Geita Regional CCM Chairman, Nicholaus Kasendamila, urged residents to remain vigilant during the upcoming elections. "We have already agreed that this is an election year. For the presidency, we stand with President Samia, and for parliamentary and council seats, let's ensure we make no mistakes," Kasendamila emphasized.
