The government has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to building and upgrading sports and conference facilities that meet international standards, aiming to position Tanzania as a hub for global events.
In her New Year’s message delivered yesterday, President Samia Suluhu Hassan highlighted ongoing efforts to enhance infrastructure in key sectors, particularly sports and tourism.
She underscored the importance of these initiatives in promoting Tanzania’s visibility on the global stage and boosting its economic development.
“We are currently engaged in upgrading football stadiums across the country and constructing new facilities in Dodoma and Arusha.
These efforts are part of our preparations to host the African Nations Championship (CHAN) this February and the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in 2027,” President Samia stated.
The President also revealed plans to modernize conference venues to meet international standards, which will enable the country to attract a variety of high-profile meetings, conferences, and summits. These developments, she said, are critical for driving economic growth through tourism and foreign investment.
“Tanzania must be ready to compete with other countries in hosting prestigious events. Modern and well-equipped facilities are a key factor in achieving this goal,” she added.
The government’s strategic focus on infrastructure development has already begun to yield results. Tanzania’s sports sector has been experiencing remarkable growth, supported by increased investment under President Samia’s leadership.
The improvements in facilities are expected to boost the country’s profile as a sports and events destination, ultimately benefiting the economy and fostering national pride.
As the country continues to make significant strides in infrastructure development, these efforts are expected to have far-reaching impacts, enhancing Tanzania’s ability to host global events while also creating opportunities for local communities through job creation and economic empowerment.
By prioritizing world-class infrastructure, Tanzania is setting the stage for a brighter future, where sports and international events can play a pivotal role in its socioeconomic transformation.
