The Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania, H.E. Dr. Philip Mpango, alongside his spouse, Mrs. Mbonimpaye Mpango, participated in the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God Mass, which also marked the celebration of the New Year 2025.

The Holy Mass took place at the Blessed Maria Theresa Ledochowska Catholic Parish in Kiwanja cha Ndege, Dodoma, where a large congregation gathered to usher in the new year with prayers and reflection.

In his address following the Mass, the Vice President extended New Year greetings and blessings from the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, H.E. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, and from other government leaders.

He wished all Tanzanians peace, prosperity, and good health, encouraging everyone to embrace the opportunities and challenges that the new year brings.

Dr. Mpango used the occasion to emphasize the critical importance of national peace as Tanzania prepares for the General Elections later this year.

He appealed to religious leaders, worshippers, and the entire population to pray for the continued stability and unity of the nation. “As we approach the elections, let us pray that our country remains peaceful and that we elect leaders who are not only God-fearing but also committed to justice, honesty, and the protection of the rights of all citizens,” he said.

He reminded Tanzanians that every individual has a role to play in preserving the peace and unity that the country has long enjoyed.

In addition to focusing on national peace, the Vice President called for prayers for global peace, acknowledging the widespread conflicts and crises affecting many regions around the world.

He urged the congregation to pray for solutions to the challenges facing people across the globe, as well as for those in Tanzania enduring various difficulties. “Let us remember those who are suffering from war, hunger, and natural disasters, and pray for their relief,” he added.

Turning to matters of environmental conservation, Dr. Mpango appealed to Tanzanians to use the year 2025 to strengthen efforts in preserving the environment.

With the rainy season approaching, he encouraged citizens to engage in tree planting and to promote cleanliness in all corners of the country. “This is a time to plant trees, flowers, and to ensure our surroundings remain clean and healthy. It is everyone’s responsibility to take care of our environment for the benefit of present and future generations,” he urged.

The Vice President also took the opportunity to acknowledge the vital role of religious institutions in shaping the moral and social fabric of Tanzanian society. He encouraged continued collaboration between the religious community and the government in promoting values of peace, unity, and national development.

As Tanzania steps into 2025, the Vice President’s message highlighted the importance of unity, faith, and collective responsibility.

He called on all Tanzanians to work together to build a peaceful, prosperous, and harmonious nation for the new year and beyond.
