Ireland's foreign Minister visits development projects in Tanga

By Our Reporter

Neale Richmond, Ireland's Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, responsible for international cooperation, development, and the diaspora, recently visited Tanga Region to see various development projects funded by the Irish Government.

During his visit, Richmond toured the Faida Maziwa Project, run by the Tanzania Livestock Research Institute (TALIRI).

The project focuses on improving milk production, adding value to dairy products, and increasing the income of dairy farmers.

He also highlighted the importance of using high-quality fodder seeds. This helps reduce conflicts between herders and farmers, which in turn improves the living conditions of both farming and herding communities in Tanga.

Richmond also visited a health center supported by the Benjamin Mkapa Foundation in partnership with Amref Health Africa, both of which receive funding from the Irish Government.

At the health center, he saw the efforts to improve healthcare services, especially for mothers and children, and the investments being made in healthcare infrastructure.

In addition,  Richmond met with leaders from various organizations, including Amref, the Benjamin Mkapa Foundation, Femina, and Uzikwasa, as well as local community groups working on different development projects.

At the end of his visit,  Richmond emphasized Ireland's continued support for Tanzania in promoting sustainable development through meaningful projects.

He also thanked all the partners involved and stressed the importance of improving health, agriculture, and business sectors to boost the economy for the benefit of both the people and the nation.
