Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) has welcomed 24 new members who recently defected from the ACT Wazalendo party.
The new members were formally introduced during a public meeting held today, Saturday, March 15, 2025, in Ruangwa, where Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa expressed his support for their decision.
Among the new members are Hammis Selemani Chikanga, the former Publicity Secretary of ACT Wazalendo in Ruangwa, Ismail Ali Mbwerei, the Councilor for Mbwemkuru Ward, and Omary Kitunguu, the Youth Secretary.
These individuals, alongside other party members, made the decision to join CCM as a sign of support for President Samia Suluhu Hassan's efforts in transforming the country.
Chikanga, speaking on behalf of the defectors, explained that their decision was motivated by the positive changes they have witnessed under President Samia's leadership.
“The Sixth Phase Government, led by President Samia, has done a lot for the people, bringing numerous development projects and improving the lives of Tanzanians. Continuing to oppose or criticize these efforts would be unfair to the government and the people,” he said.
Prime Minister Majaliwa also emphasized the strong support CCM continues to receive in Ruangwa and across Tanzania, attributing this success to President Samia’s commitment to development.
He highlighted the substantial investments in sectors such as agriculture, health, education, and infrastructure, all of which have been greatly beneficial to the people of Ruangwa.
Majaliwa particularly commended President Samia for her efforts in securing funding for water projects in Ruangwa.
He noted that the government is implementing a major water project worth 119 billion Tanzanian shillings, which will bring clean and safe water to 34 villages in the district.
As he concluded his speech, Majaliwa reassured the people of Ruangwa that he would continue working closely with them to ensure further development and success in the district.
