The Local Authorities Accounts Committee (LAAC) has directed the Ifakara Town Council’s Directorate to ensure the timely completion of the town's hospital construction, ensuring that residents have access to quality healthcare services.

The Chairperson of the Committee, Hon. Halima Mdee, issued this directive after visiting and inspecting two development projects: the construction of an administrative building and the Ifakara Town Hospital.

"Responsible officers must address all issues identified by the Controller and Auditor General (CAG) to ensure the project is completed and provides full services to the public. Additionally, quarterly progress reports on the construction must be submitted to the CAG for verification," emphasized Hon. Mdee.

She also instructed that more than 133 million Tanzanian Shillings, which were drawn from the government funds allocated for the hospital's construction, be returned to continue funding the project. "The funds must be refunded promptly to ensure the smooth continuation of the project and prevent any delays," she stressed.

Hon. Mdee further emphasized that the execution of the projects must adhere to "the laws, regulations, and guidelines provided by the President’s Office – TAMISEMI." She underscored the importance of compliance with these standards to ensure transparency and accountability in the implementation of government-funded projects.

In response, the Deputy Secretary of the President’s Office – TAMISEMI, Atupele Mwambene, assured that the office has received the directives and will ensure their full implementation under the supervision of the Ifakara Town Council. "We are committed to ensuring that these instructions are carried out diligently for the benefit of the community," Mwambene added.
