Muheza – The Director of Muheza District Council, Dr. Jumaah Mhina, has called on the residents of Kwabada Ward who have developed farms in Lewa and Saguras areas and have not yet paid for their land titles to ensure they make the necessary payments in order to receive their land titles.

The purpose of this initiative is to resolve land disputes that have been an obstacle to development in the district.

Speaking today at his office, Dr. Mhina stated that the land title distribution exercise will take place on 26th March 2025, and will be attended by the guest of honor, Hon. Hamisi Mwinyjuma, the Deputy Minister of Culture, Arts, and Sports, and Member of Parliament for the Muheza constituency. Various regional and district leaders are also expected to participate in the event.

"It is my pleasure to invite all residents of Kwabada Ward to come early for this land title distribution exercise. This is a beneficial process for our community, and it is being carried out in collaboration with the Muheza District Council to eliminate land disputes, which have been a major challenge for our district," said Dr. Mhina.

So far, the Muheza District Council has successfully surveyed 150 farms, with 35 titles ready to be issued to residents. 25 additional titles are in the final stages of preparation and are expected to be distributed soon.

"This exercise is ongoing, and we are committed to resolving land disputes in our district. In collaboration with the Commissioner of Lands office, we are implementing the government’s guidelines to ensure every area receives a land title for ownership," added Dr. Mhina.

Dr. Mhina emphasized that the government under the leadership of President Samia Suluhu Hassan is determined to resolve land disputes across the country, and that Muheza District will serve as a model for the implementation of this policy. He thanked the residents for their cooperation and assured them that the right to own land would be granted to all those qualified, in accordance with the procedures set by the government.

"President Samia Suluhu Hassan is committed to resolving land conflicts, and we will continue to ensure that every rightful person is granted their land rights. This is a great opportunity for our district, as this process will ensure that residents legally own their land in accordance with the established laws and procedures," said Dr. Mhina.

Dr. Mhina also acknowledged that land disputes have caused significant challenges but stated that the implementation of this plan would bring hope to the residents of Muheza. He assured the public that the Muheza District Council would continue to collaborate with the government to ensure that these disputes are completely resolved, with the right to land ownership being a priority.
