Zanzibar President and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, has called on the Khidmatul Tajweed Association to spread the practice of Quran recitation with Tajweed to all districts and regions in Tanzania.

"By doing so, we will create more opportunities and uncover young talents in Quran recitation," he said.

President Mwinyi made these remarks during the finals of the International Tajweed Quran Recitation Competition, organized by the association at Julius Nyerere Hall in Dar es Salaam on March 15, 2025.

He emphasized that promoting Tajweed Quran recitation is vital for building a society with strong moral values.

"This is especially important for our youth, who are the future of our nation," President Mwinyi said. He also encouraged the association and other religious organizations to continue their efforts in guiding and mentoring young people towards good values and personal growth.

President Mwinyi also noted that the responsibility of raising the youth is not solely the government’s duty but a shared responsibility.

"Everyone must work together to ensure that we build a strong foundation of good morals and piety for a nation that fears God," he stated.

In his speech, President Mwinyi highlighted the noble nature of teaching the Quran, stating, "Teaching the Quran is a sacred task with great rewards, and those who dedicate themselves to this work are among the best in the sight of Allah."

He concluded by reminding Muslims and all Tanzanians to pray for the country’s peace as it prepares for the General Election in October.

"Let us all pray for peace as we approach this important time for our nation," President Mwinyi urged.
