Coaches urged to scout emerging talent at Samia Cup

By Victoria Godfrey

Coaches from the Premier League, First Championship, and lower divisions have been urged to attend the ongoing Higher Education and Samia Cup tournament to scout rising football talent.

The matches, currently taking place at JK Park in Dar es Salaam, have drawn attention for showcasing skilled and promising young players, according to tournament organizer Cornerio Swai.

Speaking to The Respondent Online, Swai emphasized that the tournament provides an ideal platform for coaches to discover new talent that could make a difference in their respective teams.

“I warmly invite coaches from all league levels to come and witness the potential on display. There are players here who could truly strengthen their squads,” said Swai.

He also noted that the tournament has attracted strong support from fans, both students and members of the wider community, a response that highlights the growing popularity of the event.

“We’ve seen an overwhelming turnout—especially from Kampala International University, where over 100 fans made the journey to attend. Even non-students have come out to enjoy high-quality football, and that gives us great encouragement,” Swai added.
