Dr. Tulia Ackson receives honorary award for inspiring leadership

Speaker of the National Assembly of the United Republic of Tanzania and President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), Dr. Tulia Ackson, has officially received the Malkia wa Nguvu Honorary Award, presented by Clouds Media Group in recognition of her outstanding leadership and transformative role in society.

The award was handed over to her on April 16, 2025, in Dodoma by the Deputy Minister in the President’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government (TAMISEMI), Zainab Katimba. 

The Deputy Minister had accepted the award on Dr. Tulia’s behalf during the Malkia wa Nguvu Awards ceremony held in Dar es Salaam on April 4.

The Malkia wa Nguvu Awards are an annual initiative by Clouds Media Group aimed at celebrating women who have made meaningful contributions to their communities and inspired change through courage, resilience, and service.

 Dr. Tulia was honored for her trailblazing achievements, including her historic election as President of the IPU  the first Tanzanian and only the second African to lead the global parliamentary body.

Speaking during the handover ceremony,  Katimba commended Dr. Tulia for her dedication to empowering women and girls across Tanzania. 

She described the Speaker as a national beacon of hope whose story motivates the younger generation to pursue their dreams without fear.

Dr. Tulia’s leadership journey  from her academic roots to becoming one of the most influential women in global politics  has earned her admiration both at home and abroad. Her advocacy for gender equality, inclusive governance, and youth empowerment continues to inspire change across sectors.

In her acceptance remarks, Dr. Tulia expressed heartfelt appreciation to Clouds Media Group for the recognition and dedicated the award to all women and girls working hard to overcome social and economic challenges.

“This award is not just mine. It belongs to every woman and girl who dares to dream, to work hard, and to break barriers,” she said. “Leadership begins with belief in oneself and a commitment to lift others.”

Her recognition reinforces her legacy as a champion for women’s empowerment and a role model for generations to come.
