Dar es Salaam is set to host a major netball tournament featuring 32 teams from across the region, with the competition expected to kick off in the coming days.

The event is being organized by Twende Pamoja na Mama Sports Promotion, under the leadership of Director Mohamed Hajji.

Speaking about the preparations, the organization’s Chief Executive Officer, Kassim Ahmad, confirmed that arrangements are well underway.

Invitation letters have already been sent to teams, and confirmations of participation are currently being received.

Our aim is to continue supporting President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s vision of investing in the sports sector,” said Ahmad.

He added that the tournament’s official start date will be announced soon, following the conclusion of the second round of ongoing competitions in Zanzibar, which is scheduled to end next Sunday.

Ahmad also expressed his gratitude to the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM), current champions of both the Higher Education Games and the Samia Cup, for confirming their participation in the tournament.

They’ve made it clear that they are coming to defend their netball title, and we welcome the competitive spirit they bring to the tournament,” he said.

The tournament winner will take home a grand prize of 10 million Tanzanian Shillings.
