Mashujaa regroup after Simba loss, target Kagera

 By Victoria Godfrey

Following a narrow 2-1 defeat to Simba SC, Mashujaa FC Assistant Coach Charles Fredie has expressed the team's determination to bounce back as they prepare to face Kagera Sugar in their upcoming fixture.

Speaking after the match, Fredie admitted that their original strategy was to collect three points from each of their next four games. However, that plan hit an early setback with the loss away to Simba.

“We’ve accepted the outcome and are now fully focused on the next match,” Fredie said. “We’re heading back to the training ground to address the mistakes we made against Simba and improve in key areas.”

Fredie noted that despite taking the lead in the match, defensive lapses allowed Simba to turn the game around.

“Simba has quality players and they punished us for our mistakes. We had a good game plan   to defend solidly and counter   and it worked initially when we went ahead. But ultimately, we couldn’t hold on, and we must take that lesson into the next game.”

The assistant coach emphasized the importance of securing points, whether playing at home or away, especially given their recent losses to both Namungo and Simba.

“Our objective remains the same: to fight for every point and climb the table,” he added.

On the other side, Simba SC’s Media and Communications Manager, Ahmed Ally, applauded Mashujaa’s performance despite their loss, describing them as worthy opponents.

“It was one of our toughest matches, especially the away leg at Lake Tanganyika where we managed a late winner,” Ally said. “Even in the home game, Mashujaa showed strong defensive discipline and determination.”

He acknowledged that Mashujaa are battling to secure their position in the league standings, which adds intensity to their matches.

“They’re not in a bad position, but the gap between teams in the lower half is very small, so every point matters   and you can see that in how hard they’re fighting,”
